Dr. Imran Abassi is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also Board certified in Geriatric Psychiatry. He completed his Fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry from the Case Western Reserve University Cleveland, Ohio in 2007. He performed psychiatric externship at Veterans Administration Hospital in Washington DC in 2001-2002. He graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore in 1993. He specializes in treating dementia, delirium, cognitive disorders, anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, adjustment disorder and medication and drug induced depression and psychotic disorders. He provides an individualized treatment program that encourages each and every patient to work to their greatest potential and empowers families to assist their loved ones in the treatment process. He also directs behavior healthcare units in nursing facilities. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and associations, such as the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (AAGP), the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the Psychiatric Society Of Virginia. Dr. Abassi has been living in the Northern Virginia area since 1996.
Denise Murdock is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. The last 12 years she has worked with clients experiencing mental health crises including suicidal clients. She has worked primarily with adults, but have experience with children and with Systems Family Therapy. In addition, she ahas worked with Geriatric clients and end of life issues. She favors a practical approach to psychotherapy, with cognitive behavioral techniques and a compassionate, client-centered session. She believes in identifying and building on client’s strengths and resources, challenging clients to see beyond negative self-images and to incorporate new positive thought patterns lead to better fit for clients in their environments and help to alleviate depressive symptoms and increase confidence and self-esteem.
